Get Involved
Worship at Mount Zion

We gather Sunday Mornings at 10:00 for worship.

Children and youth are welcome and actively involved in worship!

We have many ways for members to be involved:

  • Communion Assistants
  • Scripture Readers (Lectors)
  • Greeters and Ushers
  • Choir
  • Musicians
  • Candle Lighters (Acolytes)

Church Council

We recently changed the way our Council is set up and have moved to a team-based approach. Each ministry has a Team Leader and they in turn gather volunteers for the area they lead. Below are the teams and under each heading there are numerous opportunities for involvement:

  • JOY

The role of Team Leader is a three year position. The five teams offer numerous opportunities for people to be involved. There are short-term commitments like making coffee or baking, reading the scriptures, lighting candles or volunteering your time and energy for a week during Vacation Bible School. Other jobs can be for a week, a month of your time or longer. If you’re interested in learning more about our Council Teams and want to get involved in the ministry of Mt. Zion contact Norma Houde, Council Chairperson at

Do you love to sing?

We come together to practice, usually a couple of months ahead, for special events in the Church year like Christmas and Easter.

Women's Ministry

The Lutheran Church Women(LCW) are a group of active women committed to their mission statement: “as a Christ centered community of women ... committed to nurturing our faith and spiritual strength to enable us to be people of God in mission”.

What we do:

Meetings are held once a month (except July and August).
These meetings are held at member’s homes and include a bible study followed by a short business meeting and then light refreshments.

Quilt making, and Canadian Lutheran World Relief kits/projects.
A group of women meet each Thursday morning from 9 to 12 January to May in the church basement to assemble adult and children’s quilts plus baby layettes and school kits. These kits include supplies donated by members of the church and community and are sent overseas to refugee camps in May.

We organize a variety of social events for the congregation throughout the year.

  • Everybody’s Birthday party (decorated tables represent the various birthday months)
  • Afternoon Fall Tea, Bake & Craft Sale in the church basement. Admission by donation with money going to community charitable project. Activities include tea/coffee and goodies with door prizes, bake sale, White Elephant table and craft table.
  • Advent Pot Luck Lunch to begin the Advent season

For further information about LCW activities, please contact Mount Zion church office and we will be pleased to give you more details.
