We recognize and acknowledge the Qayqayt First Nation, as well as all Coast Salish peoples, on whose traditional and unceded territories we gather.

Learning

English as Another Language (EAL)

This marks the 15th year of our ESL Adult Bible Study at Mount Zion.

The class, using the contemporary version of the Bible, has as its focus, the Gospel for the day. The discussion is in English with simple reading and writing opportunities and is often quite lively!  We focus on the Bible story and church.

We are blessed with a vibrant multi-ethnic community who choose to share their faith and life experiences with us.  The group comes together for the final ten minutes of the morning to share in the writing of the prayer which Pastor Marlys incorporates each Sunday in the prayers of the church.

Join Us!  Sundays at 9:00am Just before Worship.  Need a ride?  Contact the church office at 604-521-0120.

Sunday School

Sunday School is a vibrant Christian education program at Mount Zion.  We meet at 9 o'clock before the 10am Worship service - September thru June.

The attendance ranges from six to twenty. A different Bible story is presented each week. Every four to five weeks deeper learning activities/crafts are planned so the whole group can create and learn together.

The teachers and others who support the work of the Sunday School are carefully chosen.

New Members Classes

What is a Christian? What does it mean to be Lutheran? Are Lutherans Christian? If you would like to explore these questions, learn more about what it means to be a member, please let Pastor Marlys know. Contact mzoffice@shaw.ca for more information

What is a Member?

Have you ever wondered what the definition of 'member' in our church is?

As defined by our constitution, you become a member in one of three ways:  received in baptism; through new membership, or transfer from another congregation.  You remain an active member when you receive communion and contribute through your offerings.  That's why we like you to fill out a communion card and use your offering envelopes.

If you've ever wondered what it means to be Lutheran, missed out on confirmation as a teenager, or it's time to refresh your memory, we have classes - dates and times to be determined by the participants.  If you are interested in becoming a member of Mount Zion please contact Pastor Marlys at mzoffice@shaw.ca or 604-621-0120.

Youth Group

The youth of Mount Zion Lutheran Church are a vital and energetic part of our congregation.  Although we meet on an irregular basis as "the youth group", the youth are definitely visible in living out their faith by welcoming, serving, worshipping, growing, and sharing the good news of God in Christ Jesus in many facets of life here at Mount Zion and in the community.

Some of the activities include:  attending movies, numerous sleepovers at the church (the #1 favourite activity!), baking and decorating cookies as gifts during caroling at the homes of senior members of the congregation. sharing their artistic side with the congregation through skits and dramas.
